- Permanent position | 18.25 hours per week
- Weds (afternoon/3.75hrs),Thurs (all day/7.5hrs),Fri (all day/7.5hrs)
- 5 weeks annual leave +5 days university holidays

Āu Mahi | What You Will Do
UC Library is looking for an enthusiastic Assistant Librarian to join our Engagement and Learning Support team.
As Assistant Librarian – Learning, you will help deliver high-quality on-campus and online library services that support student success and engagement. You will have a specific focus on Te Rua Makerspace. You will collaborate across the Library and wider University to ensure facilities are safe, accessible and welcoming, while providing knowledgeable assistance to library users.
This is a varied and people-focused role where you will:
- Support the smooth operation of library facilities and learning spaces across the library network
- Assist students, staff and visitors with library resources, technology and services
- Coordinate communications and act as a key point of contact for enquiries
- Maintain equipment, resources and facilities to ensure safe and effective use
- Support operations in Te Rua Makerspace (Te Rua Makerspace | UC)
- Collect data and report on service usage
- Train colleagues, students, and volunteers on health and safety and in the use of equipment
- Contribute to library events, initiatives and student engagement activities
- Support process improvement, documentation and reporting on library services
- Develop and promote library resources and services to help students make the most of their learning experience.
Mōu | Who You Are
You will be well organised, proactive and committed to excellent service and you will also be able to demonstrate:
- 3–4 years’ experience in a library, customer service or administrative role within a large organisation (tertiary sector experience desirable)
- Experience supporting staff and volunteers in using equipment such as 3D printers, garment printers and sewing machines
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Excellent organisational, problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Experience coordinating processes, services or small projects
- Confidence using digital systems and learning new technologies
- A collaborative mindset with the ability to work independently and take initiative
- An understanding of health and safety practices in a workplace environment
- An alignment with our organisation's values and culture, promoting a positive and inclusive work environment.
A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent qualification) is required. Experience with library systems or services would be advantageous.
