Assistant or Associate Clinical Professor in Small Animal Veterinary Medicine
The Professional Program in Veterinary Medicine (PPVM) at South Dakota State University, in dynamic partnership with the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine, is seeking an exceptional and engaging clinician-educator who is passionate about inspiring the next generation of veterinarians.
This is a 9-month, full-time, clinical (non-tenure-track), benefits eligible position at the Assistant or Associate level with a specialization in Small Animal Veterinary Medicine located in Brookings, South Dakota.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
This is a tripartite faculty position with responsibilities in teaching, scholarly activity, and service, with primary emphasis on clinical teaching within the professional DVM curriculum.
Teaching Responsibilities
- Deliver clinically focused instruction in small animal didactic and laboratory courses. Clinical knowledge in small animal medicine and theriogenology is expected.
- Facilitate case-based, integrated, and team-based learning to strengthen clinical reasoning and decision-making.
- Coordinate and align course content with University of Minnesota curricular objectives and learning outcomes.
- Provide individualized academic advising and professional mentorship to veterinary students within the small-cohort model.
- Mentor pre-veterinary students pursuing admission to the DVM program.
- Contribute to curriculum development, assessment, and continuous improvement efforts.
Scholarly Activity
Faculty are expected to engage in scholarly activity consistent with a clinical academic appointment.
Service Contributions
Participate in departmental, college, and university committees. Contribute to program development, assessment, and accreditation-related activities.
SALARY: The salary and rank are commensurate with qualifications, starting at $95,000 for Assistant Professor rank.
