Assistant or Associate Professor (Clinical) - Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences - Uveitis and Ocular Inflammatory Disease
Responsibilities
The selected individual will possess expertise (fellowship level) in the comprehensive management of ocular inflammatory diseases, including anterior, posterior, intermediate uveitis and panuveitis. Priority will be given to candidates whose clinical identity and training focus primarily on uveitis.
The successful candidate must demonstrate competence in advanced diagnostic evaluation and management of uveitic diseases; ocular imaging and ultrasound related to ocular inflammation; and systemic immunomodulatory and immunosuppressive treatment of ocular inflammatory diseases.
The incumbent will participate in the continuous development and advancement of a high-volume tertiary/quaternary uveitis care service. A minimum of approximately two days per week must be devoted to uveitis-specific clinical activities, while also participating in shared clinical service responsibilities, including after-hours care as needed.
The successful candidate will also participate in all essential missions of a university ophthalmology department: clinical care; undergraduate medical education, residency and fellowship training; clinical and/or translational research; knowledge dissemination and professorial leadership.
Requirements
- Hold a license to practice as an ophthalmologist in Quebec, or be eligible;
- Have completed recognized subspecialty fellowship training in uveitis and ocular inflammatory diseases;
- Demonstrate competence in the medical management of complex ocular inflammatory diseases, including systemic immunomodulatory treatment;
- Demonstrate research productivity and/or scholarly activities;
- Demonstrate strong potential for professorial leadership, collaboration, innovation and teaching excellence;
- Be preferably bilingual (French and English), or commit to acquiring the language skills necessary to practice medicine in Quebec.
