Assistant or Associate Professor of Clinical Practice, Metabolism, Endocrinology and Nutrition
The Department of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology and Nutrition University of Washington invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor WOT (without tenure due to funding) with an anticipated start date of September 2026. Specific rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications as generally described in UW’s Faculty Code Section 24-34. We seek applicants who demonstrate commitment to excellence in research, teaching, and service in a diverse and inclusive academic community. The successful candidate will join our faculty on a full-time basis for a twelve-month service period [July 1-June 30]. Assistant professors are eligible for multi-year appointments and associate professors hold indefinite appointments.
The base salary range for this position will be $16,700 - $25,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization. Other compensation associated with this position may include an administrative salary supplement (ADS).
The successful candidate will be expected to have clinical responsibilities which will include the outpatient management of individuals with Endocrine neoplasia, the evaluation and management of individuals with thyroid nodules, and the management of individuals with Endocrine neoplasia, including thyroid carcinoma, adrenocortical carcinoma, pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors, pheochromocytoma and endocrinologic complications of cancer therapy. Additional responsibilities may include ultrasound guided fine needle aspiration. Teaching responsibilities will include giving didactic lectures to students, residents and fellows, and clinical teaching on both outpatient and inpatient services of residents and fellows. Mentorship of clinical fellowship research projects will also be involved. Scholarly work will include the diagnosis, management and treatment of patients with endocrine neoplasia. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to earn expertise and accreditation in radiofrequency ablation.
The position will be based at the UWMC Endocrine Care Clinic and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, respectively.
All University of Washington faculty are expected to engage in teaching, research, and service.
Qualifications
Applicants for this position must meet the following minimum qualifications:
MD or DO (or foreign equivalent), eligibility for medical licensure in the state of Washington, and Board Eligibility or Certification in Endocrinology (or foreign equivalent) by the start date of employment. Expertise in the care and management of individuals with Endocrine neoplasia, including proficiency in ultrasound guided fine needle aspiration of thyroid nodules is necessary.
In order to be eligible for university sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
