Position Summary

The School of Arts and Sciences at La Salle University in Philadelphia, PA invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor who will serve as Program Director for the CACREP-accredited M.A. Program in Professional Clinical Counseling (PCC). This is a 9-month faculty appointment with a 12-month secondary administrative appointment as Program Director. Essential Duties

  • Serve as Director and lead administrator for the PCC program.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with CACREP accreditation standards.
  • Develop and oversee program operations, including programming and course scheduling.
  • Manage and support faculty and students within the program.
  • Collaborate with Enrollment Management to support recruitment and maintain program enrollment.
  • Teach courses within the PCC program; the contractual teaching load is 24 credits per academic year, with course release available for program directors and pre-tenured faculty.
  • Participate in program development and academic advising and support to students at all stages of the PCC program.
  • Engage in scholarly research, University service, and service to the counseling profession, consistent with expectations for a tenure-track faculty appointment.

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Summer teaching may be available as an overload.
  • The ideal candidate will have experience in program leadership.
  • Teach undergraduate courses in the Psychology program, either as part of the faculty load or as overload.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to build community within the Professional and Clinical Counseling (PCC) and Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned related to the growth of the program.

Required Qualifications

  • Candidates must possess a doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Counselor Education and Supervision, Counselor Education and Human Development, or a closely related doctoral degree from a CACREP accredited doctoral program.
  • ABD candidates will be considered but the completion of all degree requirements must be satisfied prior to the start date.
  • Candidates must be licensed or license eligible as a Licensed Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania.
  • The ability to articulate a solid identity as a counselor and counselor educator.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong record of teaching and commitment to experientially-based clinical education.
  • Experience with CACREP accreditation and meeting accreditation standards in core courses.
  • Active membership and engagement with counseling professional organizations (ex. ACA, Divisions of ACA, CSI, AMHCA, AASECT, state counseling associations).
  • Continued clinical work, supervision, and/or consultation via private practice or an agency
  • Commitment to experientially based clinical education.
  • A record of social advocacy and/or demonstrated commitment to diversity, inclusivity, and social justice initiatives.

Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours

  • Evening hours will be required according to program needs (e.g., MA Program courses run 4:30-7pm & 7:30-10pm in the Fall/Spring and 6-9:30pm in the Summer).
  • Other MA Program activities (e.g., Orientation, Diversity Forum, Honor Society Events) are also held on weekday evenings.
