All of our faculty members bring a strong clinical focus, while many pursue research in education and clinical hospital medicine. Our faculty also serve in administrative capacities for the University, Children's Hospital, and our partner hospitals.

Key Responsibilities:

· Provides direct inpatient care for general pediatric patients across all ages and developmental, nutritional, and physiological needs.

· Provides independent, high‑quality inpatient care and disease management from admission through discharge, coordinating closely with case management, social work, nursing, and other team members.

· Performs history and physical examinations and determines treatment plans.

· Monitors illness progression and escalates care for decompensating patients.

· Maintains LP procedural skills and privileges (initial privileging may be obtained upon hire).

· Participates in multi-disciplinary care including team meetings and patient care conferences.

· Nocturnist role: Provides overnight coverage for PHM complex pulmonary, TRACK, and general medical teams, including admissions, transfers, and stabilization of decompensating patients with in‑house PHM faculty and APP support.

· Cross-coverage to PHM teams including surgical co-management, behavioral health co-management, nephrology co-management, pulmonary and other general pediatric hospital medicine inpatient services.

· VAIL HEALTH: ED consultations for pediatric patients, stabilization of decompensating patients with potential for facilitating code situations, determination of appropriate disposition from ED or outside facility, including arranging transport, independent management of pediatric inpatients from admission through discharge with physician telehealth backup. Participates in pediatric education for Vail Health staff and helps build and maintain relationships within the Vail Valley healthcare community.

· Attendance and participation at monthly section/staff meetings is required.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

• APN licensure and a masters degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
  
  
• BLS and PALS certification
  
  
• Pediatric Nursing Certification Board certificate or other comparable certification required.
  
  
• Acute Care Nurse Practitioner certification required.
  
  
• Ability to obtain Prescriptive Authority in the State of Colorado. Will need to qualify for and obtain prescriptive authority within one year of beginning position.
  
  
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in general pediatrics or hospital medicine.
