We are seeking an outstanding candidate for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the Department of Counseling, School Psychology and Sport (CSPS) in the College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) at the University of Massachusetts Boston to begin September 1, 2026. Specifically, we seek an innovative and equity-minded scholar who will engage in research excellence and continue integrated scholarship efforts that draws from multiple disciplines (e.g., counseling psychology, mental health counseling, school psychology, and/or sport) and harnesses innovative ideas to shape evidence-based solutions benefiting individuals in high-need and urban communities.
Preferred qualifications include one or more of the following: 1) Demonstrated teaching and leadership experience with socio-culturally diverse populations; 2) a record or promise of high research productivity, including collaborative, interdisciplinary community-engaged scholarship, that supports our departmental mission; 3) successful and engaged undergraduate and/or graduate teaching experience with inclusive approaches for supporting student learning and development.
This faculty position is located within the PhD Program in Counseling Psychology and will also support the MS in Mental Health Counseling, and the Ph.D. program in Counseling and School Psychology. Preference will be given to applicants with assessment experience and/or qualifications for teaching social psychology or other core psychology courses.
Responsibilities for this position include: 1) teaching core graduate courses in counseling psychology, mental health counseling, and clinical supervision of field experiences in counseling psychology and mental health counseling; 2) conducting research that is relevant to the field of counseling psychology; 3) advising doctoral students and serving on dissertation committees; and 4) contributing service to university, college, departmental, and program committees, to professional associations, and to local, national, and/or international communities.
Required Qualifications: An earned doctorate from an APA-accredited Counseling Psychology Program and Master’s from an Accredited Counseling or Mental Health Program or related field. Licensed or license-eligible as a Licensed Psychologist/Health Services Provider in Massachusetts.

UMass Boston expects to pay within an approximate range between $80,000 and $85,850 for this position.
