CALL FOR APPLICATIONS 12/2026
For the selection of one candidate for the scientific-teaching position of Assistant Professor (Docent) in the scientific field of Social Sciences, scientific branch of Economics, sub-branch of Business Economics, on a permanent, full-time basis.
Applicants must meet the requirements stipulated by the Act on Higher Education and Scientific Activity (Official Gazette No. 119/22).
The following must be attached to the personally signed application:
- curriculum vitae,
- proof of Croatian citizenship (copy of identity card, passport, or certificate of citizenship) or citizenship of another country; foreign nationals are required to submit proof of Croatian language proficiency (advanced level),
- proof of the acquired academic degree of Doctor of Science (applicants who obtained the qualification abroad must submit a reasoned opinion from the competent agency regarding the foreign educational qualification),
- decision on appointment to a scientific rank (if the selection procedure has been conducted),
- proof of meeting the necessary requirements in accordance with the National University, Scientific, and Artistic Criteria (Official Gazette No. 42/26),
- list of scientific and professional papers.
Applications and proof of meeting the criteria must be submitted in electronic form. Persons of both genders have the right to apply under equal conditions. Terms used in this call for applications that imply gender are used neutrally and apply equally to both genders. Candidates who, pursuant to Article 102 of the Act on Croatian Homeland War Veterans and Members of Their Families (Official Gazette Nos. 121/17, 98/19, and 84/21) and the provisions of other special regulations—specifically the Act on Professional Rehabilitation and Employment of Persons with Disabilities (Official Gazette Nos. 157/13, 152/14, 39/18, and 32/20) and the Act on the Protection of Military and Civilian War Invalids (Official Gazette Nos. 33/92, 57/92, 77/92, 27/93, 58/93, 02/94, 76/94, 108/95, 108/96, 82/01, 103/03, 148/13, and 98/19)—are entitled to employment priority, are required to cite this right in their application and submit all supporting evidence; they shall have priority over other candidates only under equal conditions. Prior to making a decision, the Faculty reserves the right to assess the knowledge and skills of candidates who have submitted a timely and complete application and meet the formal requirements of the call for applications, by means of testing and/or an interview. Candidates will be notified in due time regarding the scheduling of such testing and/or interviews. Failure by a candidate to attend the assessment will be deemed a withdrawal of their application. The Faculty reserves the right not to select any candidate.
By applying to the call for applications, candidates expressly consent to the University of Rijeka, Faculty of Economics—acting as the personal data controller—collecting, using, and further processing their data for the purpose of conducting the selection process. This processing shall be carried out in accordance with European and national regulations and internal acts regarding personal data protection, ensuring proper handling of said data by all persons granted lawful access thereto; such use shall be strictly limited to lawful purposes and shall not in any way conflict with the candidates' interests. The deadline for submitting applications is 30 (thirty) days from the date of the call for applications' publication in the Official Gazette (Narodne novine).

Late or incomplete applications, as well as those that do not meet the requirements of the call, will not be considered.
