The Department of Health Science at Minnesota State University, Mankato invites applications for a Tenure-Track (Probationary) position in Applied Health Science in the Department of Health Science. The successful candidate will have a Doctorate or terminal degree in Health Education, Health Promotion, Health Behavior, or a closely related field. (Conferred on an official transcript by December 31, 2026). Must also have a current Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES®) or Master Certified Health Education Specialist (MCHES®) credential or CHES®/MCHES® eligible at the time of appointment.
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate Applied Health Science and graduate Master of Public Health (MPH) courses, as well as large enrollment general education health courses. These courses may include, but are not limited to: Personal Health, First Aid and CPR, Drug Education, Introduction to Applied Health Science, Foundations of Public Health, Health Communication and Advocacy, Professional Preparation in Health Careers, Environmental Health, Global Health, Biostatistics, Behavior Change Foundations and Strategies, and courses pertaining to health education program planning, implementation, and evaluation.
Minimum Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from a wide range of diverse backgrounds and to foster a professional environment that is inclusive, respectful, and equitable for all.
- Doctorate or terminal degree in Health Education, Health Promotion, Health Behavior, or closely related field. (Conferred on an official transcript by December 31, 2026).
- Doctoral coursework must reflect the Eight Areas of Responsibility of a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES®).
- Current Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES®) or Master Certified Health Education Specialist (MCHES®) credential or CHES®/MCHES® eligible at the time of appointment.
Preferred Qualification
- Demonstrated experience fostering an inclusive, equitable, and respectful environment while working effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Two (2) years of college teaching experience in health education or closely related field (experience as a graduate teaching assistant is acceptable).
- Master of Public Health (MPH) Degree with or without CPH.
- University teaching experience in a large enrollment general education course.
- Evidence of scholarly activity, including publications and/or professional presentations.
