Position Summary
The Immunology Translational Research Program (ITRP) at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore (NUS) invites applications for the position of tenure track Assistant Professor. We seek an exceptional and motivated individual to develop and lead a research program in Immunology, with a focus on translational research that bridges fundamental discoveries and clinical applications.
The ideal candidate should have strong expertise and interests in neutrophil biology, particularly in the area of cellular ageing. The successful applicant will join a vibrant and collaborative team dedicated to advancing the understanding, prevention, and treatment of infectious diseases and cancer.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish an independent, externally funded research program in immunology with an emphasis on translational approaches.
- Conduct cutting-edge research that contributes to ITRP’s goals, including vaccine development, antimicrobial resistance, pathogen-host interactions, anti-tumor immunity, immune ageing, and public health interventions.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including clinicians, scientists, and other stakeholders to drive impactful research.
- Mentor and supervise undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral researchers.
- Teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses in areas related to microbiology or immunology, anchored under the Department of Microbiology & Immunology.
- Publish high-quality, peer-reviewed research in leading journals and present findings at national and international conferences.
- Actively participate in ITRP’s events, workshops, and outreach activities.
Qualifications
Essential:
- PhD, MD, or equivalent, with at least three years of postdoctoral experience in microbiology, immunology, epidemiology, or a related field.
- Proven track record of research excellence as evidenced by first author original high impact publications.
- Strong potential to secure competitive external funding.
- Expertise in translational research methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Desirable:
- Experience in teaching and curriculum development at the graduate level.
- Experience in mentoring and supervising research trainees.
- Research experience in neutrophil biology, microbial infection, and sepsis.
- Familiarity with regulatory and ethical requirements for translational research.
