Assistant Professor - Internal Medicine (Hematology, Non-Malignant HMCT)
Job Description Summary
The Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Hematology (Non-Malignant HMCT) at The University of Kansas Medical Center provides high-quality, evidence-based, and patient-centered care within their area of specialization, including the management of non-malignant hematologic conditions. In addition, this role actively contributes to the education and training of learners, including medical students, residents, and fellows, and participates in departmental and divisional academic activities.
Job Duties
- Attend on HMCT inpatient services on a rotating basis, including shared weekend and on-call responsibilities.
- Establish and maintain outpatient clinics for patients with non-malignant hematologic conditions.
- Supervise the plan of care, procedures, diagnostic testing, and consultation orders of house staff in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Participate in hematology/BMT conferences, journal clubs, and other academic activities, and provide teaching lectures to residents, medical students, and fellows.
- Support departmental and divisional research efforts, including clinical trial development, accrual, and research mentorship.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Division Director and/or Department Chair.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and maintain expertise in non-malignant hematology and related clinical and research practices.
Required Qualifications
Certifications/Licenses:
- Board Certified/Eligible in Internal Medicine.
- Board Certified/Eligible in Medical Oncology.
- Board Certified/Eligible in Hematology.
