The Department of Africana, Puerto Rican and Latino Studies at Hunter College of The City University of New York invites applications for an assistant professor specializing in Latinx politics, including electoral, judicial, and cultural politics; candidates with expertise in the sociology of Latinx communities are encouraged to apply.
The position will begin in the Fall 2027 semester.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Evidence of strong research agenda that connects meaningfully to Latinx Studies and either Sociology and/or Political Science
- Demonstrated ability to teach intro & upper-division courses in AFPRL, and to contribute to cross-listed offerings with Political Science and Sociology
- Clear commitment to student-centered pedagogy, inclusive classroom practice, and mentoring
QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. in Political Science or Sociology (or a related field such as American Studies, or Latinx Studies) with a specialization in Latinx politics and communities.
COMPENSATION
Compensation is commensurate with experience within the range of $90,838-$109,025.
