- Facilitate weekly PBL small group sessions and/or large group
lectures as needed. Be available to answer students’ questions in
content areas of expertise.
- Complete mid-block (formative) and end-of-block (summative)
student evaluations. Ensure all evaluations are executed using the
specified template to maintain consistency and adherence to
established guidelines.
- Contribute to case review, case-writing, case-enhancement, item
writing for exams, faculty development, and medical education
research.
- Faculty should be fully committed to learning how to facilitate
problem-based learning, which includes participating in training
for PBL and ongoing faculty development programs provided. You are
not expected to be an expert in all content of the case.
- Ensure support for student learning through collaboration with
the Center for Student Success (CSS) and/or Office of Faculty
Development
- Know curriculum policies and procedures related to
pre-clerkship delivery.
- Participate in academic committees as assigned.
- Whenever possible, vacations should be scheduled during the
students’ time off in the winter, spring, and summer. When you have
conferences or vacation, prior notification will be required so
that a substitute can be provided for your group.
- Other duties as assigned by the Chair of the Department of
Medical Education and Scholarship.
Qualifications:
- Terminal degree (PhD, DO, or MD) with expertise in physiology
and/or biochemistry. For physician applicants, clinical duties
and/or teaching in the simulation center may be required.
- At least 3 years experience teaching medical students and small
group facilitation, specifically PBL experience, is
preferred.
Salary:
In compliance with the State of New Jersey’s Pay Transparency Act,
the salary range for this position is $104,00 to $124,000.
Placement into the range is determined by the candidate’s
qualifications, professional experience and other factors.
