The College of Science and Mathematics (CSM), Department of Biological Sciences at Augusta University (AU) invites applications for a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor. CSM seeks an outstanding individual to teach courses to undergraduate and/or graduate students on topics in Biological Sciences. Research and other scholarly activities (publishing, presenting) in your field to involve undergraduate science majors. Service to the university entails work on department, college, and university committees, work groups, and/or campaigns in order to promote and support Augusta University's mission. Responsibilities
Teaching - 80
Teaching Expectation: Teach courses to undergraduate and/or graduate students on topics in Biological Sciences, to include all of the duties and obligations expected of a college professor not limited to, but including grading, maintaining regular office hours, class preparations, and following university policies regarding teaching.
Scholarship - 10
Research expectation: Persistent scholarship leading to national/international recognition and impact. Key measures of success include publications and presentations appropriate to your field, which can include articles on instruction in your field as well as other activities.
Service - 10
Service Expectation: Service to Augusta University as requested by the Department Chair and/or the Dean, service to the profession, including local, regional, and national/international leadership within the discipline.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
A Ph.D. or similar terminal degree in a discipline of Biological Science and have the expertise to teach courses such as Principles of Biology, Environmental Biology, and/ or Anatomy & Physiology.
Assistant Professor- Early level career as a faculty member
Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:
- Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
- Evidence of ability as a teacher;
- Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
- Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
- Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.

Preferred Experience
Experience teaching Biology at the undergraduate/college level and coordinating courses and instructional laboratories.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.
The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.
Assistant Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
