Assistant Professor of Chemistry-Tenure Track
Job Details
Sweet Briar College invites applications for a tenure-track (initial three-year) appointment as an Assistant Professor of Chemistry, ideally to start in August 2026. The successful candidate will be an engaged scholar-teacher and have a strong commitment to undergraduate education. The incumbent will be expected to teach a variety of courses and laboratories that contribute to our STEM degree programs including General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Physical Chemistry, as well as one or more upper-level courses to support the program depending on program need and candidate expertise. The incumbent will also teach courses in the Leadership Core Curriculum, our general education curriculum, and will have the opportunity to guide, direct and supervise undergraduate research projects.
Required Qualifications:
- A Ph.D. in chemistry or related field. Applicants who are ABD will be considered if degree completion is expected by August 2026;
- Demonstrated teaching experience, and potential and interest in undergraduate research;
- Demonstrated interest in working across disciplines and engaging in collaborative scholarship, teaching, and service; and
- Excellent communication skills.
