The Department of Criminal Justice is looking to fill the Tenure-Track Assistant Professor position.

At its core, Kansas Wesleyan University is a teaching institution, and thus the department seeks a dynamic leader who is enthusiastic about teaching undergraduates using innovative course delivery methods and engaged, active pedagogies. In addition, faculty filling this position must possess communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with a diverse array of students and colleagues. The applicant must be eligible to work in the U.S.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, student-centered instruction that supports achievement of course learning outcomes; develop and maintain syllabi, course materials, assessments, and accurate student records in compliance with institutional policies.
  • Teach a full-time course load, maintain regular office hours, and provide academic support to students through individual and small group engagement.
  • Advise students in developing educational and career plans, including course selection and graduation pathways that promote timely and cost-effective degree completion.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance subject matter expertise and instructional effectiveness.
  • Contribute to university and community service initiatives, including committee participation and institutional activities.
  • Support departmental and university goals through student recruitment, curriculum development and review, attendance at required events, and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: Master’s in in the field or closely related field with 18 graduate credits completed in Criminal Justice.

Preferred Qualifications: Doctorate in the field.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

Minimum required: Experience teaching at the college or university level or demonstrated ability to be successful at this level. Preferred: Three or more years of teaching and advising experience at the college or university level.
