Assistant Professor of Film Production (Tenure Track)
The Film Studies Program at Rhode Island College invites applications for a full-time, tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Film Production.
The individual will teach a range of courses in the areas of pre-production, production, and post-production; advise film majors; engage in scholarly and/or creative work; and participate in department, college, and community service in manners appropriate to the position. Ability to collaborate across departmental subdisciplines in both teaching and creative work preferred.
RIC is a regional comprehensive public institution enrolling approximately 6,600 students across five schools: the Faculty of Arts and Sciences; the Feinstein School of Education and Human Development; the School of Business; the School of Nursing; and the School of Social Work. Founded in 1854 as Rhode Island’s first public institution of higher education, the college is located on a scenic 180 acre campus in Providence, with additional sites at the Rhode Island Nursing Education Center and the Workforce Development Hub in Central Falls. Required Qualifications:
- MFA in Film and/or Media Production, conferred by July 1, 2026. PhD with relevant film production experience will also be considered.
- Experience in either narrative or documentary filmmaking.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Training and experience in one of the following: screenwriting, color grading, VFX work.
- Willingness to serve in a faculty leadership role as part of college-wide shared governance following the awarding of tenure.
- Experience working with non-traditional students and a diverse student population.
