Assistant Professor of Graphic Design
Job Summary
The Department of Art at Columbus State University seeks applicants for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position to provide instruction in Graphic Design, beginning in August of 2026. This faculty member will teach three classes per semester in the Art curricula of CSU, with primary responsibility for all levels of instruction in Graphic Design, and provide service to the Department, College, and University. We seek applicants with academic credentials--MFA in Graphic Design is required--and experience both in teaching and in the design industry. Instruction is to be in-person on the RiverPark campus of CSU in Columbus, Georgia. Review of applications will begin in April 2026 and continue until the position has been filled.
Responsibilities
Teaching three undergraduate courses per semester in the Art programs of Columbus State University, with primary responsibility for instruction in all levels of Graphic Design, maintaining equipment and studio used for Graphic Design, and service as appropriate within the Department, College, and University. Courses will be taught in-person on the RiverPark campus in Columbus, Georgia.
Required Qualifications
An MFA in Graphic Design or a closely related field of study is required. Candidate should possess strong communication skills and the desire and ability to work in a collaborative Art department. The successful candidate will demonstrate ability in teaching all levels of Graphic Design and 2D Design at the Foundation level. A successful candidate should demonstrate expertise and professional experience in design for print, web, interactive, and other forms of design and a strong record of collaboration with clients and colleagues. An outstanding candidate will be well versed in contemporary design theory, articulate a vision for leading edge practices in design, and possess a record of excellence in the classroom.
Preferred Qualifications
Three (3) years of successful teaching and related professional experience are preferred. This may include graduate teaching assistantships.
