Assistant Professor of Instruction or Practice
The University of Texas at San Antonio College of Science's Department of Biology, Health, and the Environment invites applications for the Assistant Professor of Instruction or Assistant Professor of Practice to begin Spring 2026.
Position Summary
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in biology or environmental science. This position would have a baseline teaching requirement of 4 undergraduate or graduate lecture courses in the Biology, Health, and the Environment Department each semester. This position will be provided an office and desktop computer.
Required Qualifications
- PhD in Biology, Environmental Science, or related field (Assistant Professor of Instruction) or MS in Biology, Environmental Science, or related field (Assistant Professor of Practice).
- Experience teaching biology lectures and labs.
- This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching biology and/or environmental science courses at the undergraduate or graduate level.

Salary
Starting at $50,000 for a nine-month appointment (Fall and Spring semesters). Fixed-Term Track (FTT) faculty at UTSA are generally hired through renewable contracts. The primary contract would be for 9-months, with additional summer appointments (for teaching and administrative service) possible.

This position is fully on campus, but may be assigned to teach both in-person and online courses. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
