The Department of Kinesiology and Health Education at The University of Texas at Austin invites applications from qualified individuals for a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure-track Assistant Professor of Instruction, with an anticipated start date of August 16, 2026. This position carries a teaching load of four courses per long semester, commensurate departmental service expectations, and an initial one-year contract.
The ideal candidate will have the appropriate academic and practical preparation to teach courses in Sport Management and/or Physical Culture and Sport, and to oversee student internships. Potential teaching areas include but are not limited to: sport sociology; sport, fitness and mass media; sport organizational behavior; sport facility and event management; sport marketing; the history of sport; as well as other courses in sport management and sports studies. The position requires delivery of both theoretical content and practical experiences in areas related to sport management, physical culture, and sport studies. Responsibilities may also include the supervision of Teaching Assistants and/or student aides.

Qualifications
A master's degree is required. Candidates who are ABD are encouraged to apply, but a doctoral degree in sport management, sport studies, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should have excellent communication skills and a student-centered approach to teaching undergraduate courses. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience teaching across disciplines. Applicants should also have a strong commitment to teaching and mentoring.
