Assistant Professor of Linguistics
Essential Job Duties
The Department of English at North Carolina State University invites applications for one full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Linguistics. As a faculty member, you will contribute to our undergraduate major and M.A. concentration through teaching, research, and service. The area of specialization is open; however, we are particularly interested in candidates specializing in either: 1. corpus linguistics, with a focus on syntax, morphology, or the lexicon; or 2. experimental sociolinguistics and/or experimental psycholinguistics.
Minimum Education and Experience
PhD in relevant field by August 2027
Other Required Qualifications
Demonstrated excellence in teaching, along with a strong record of research and scholarly publication. Commitment to high-quality undergraduate and graduate instruction, as well as experience conducting data-informed research.
Preferred Qualifications
PhDs in related disciplines are encouraged to apply; however, the role includes teaching foundational courses in linguistics. Experience in, or a commitment to, community outreach and engagement.
