Assistant Professor of Management and Business Law
The School of Business at Shenandoah University invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of Management and Business Law beginning August 2026. This is a full-time benefited faculty appointment eligible for a multi-year career contract following a successful probationary period. This position is located on our main campus in Winchester, Virginia.
We seek a dynamic educator-scholar who can contribute to both the Management and Legal/Ethics core of our AACSB-accredited undergraduate and graduate programs.
The successful candidate will teach a versatile load that anchors the School’s compliance and human capital curriculum. Primary teaching responsibilities include Legal Environment of Business, Human Resource Management, and Business Ethics.
In addition to undergraduate core courses, the successful candidate will contribute to the graduate level (MBA), specifically in areas such as Employment Law, Leadership, Human Resource Management, Business Ethics and/or Organizational Behavior. As a member of a small, collaborative faculty, the candidate will also be expected to support general business education (Intro to Business) and student mentorship.
Strategic & Interdisciplinary Collaboration:
The School is actively strengthening its focus on Ethical Leadership and Regulatory Compliance. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to bridge the gap between legal theory and organizational practice.
- Healthcare Alignment: Experience or interest in Healthcare Law or Healthcare Management is a significant plus
- Corporate Governance: Candidates who can address emerging topics such as ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance), AI Ethics, or Sustainability are especially encouraged to apply.
Required Skills
Required:
- Earned PhD or DBA in Management, Human Resources, Organizational Behavior, or related field. Candidates holding the Juris Doctor may be considered but are expected to have maintained a record of scholarship appropriate for this faculty appointment. ABD will be considered with completion prior to start date.
- Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate courses in Business Law and Human Resources.
- Evidence of scholarly activity and/or professional engagement consistent with AACSB "Scholarly Academic" (SA) status.
- Commitment to excellence in teaching and high-impact student engagement.
Preferred:
- Interest or expertise in Healthcare Law/Policy or Healthcare Systems.
- Experience teaching at the Graduate (MBA) level.
- Professional certifications in HR (e.g., SHRM-CP/SCP) or related management fields.
- Industry experience in corporate compliance, labor relations, or executive leadership.
