Assistant Professor of Mathematics
Role Summary
The School of Mathematics at Trinity College Dublin is seeking applications for an Assistant Professor in High-Performance Computing (HPC) with a strong background in Applied Mathematics, Theoretical Physics, Computational Mathematics, Numerical Analysis, High-Performance Computing applications.
Research Focus
The successful candidate will contribute to research in computational mathematics, numerical analysis, high-performance computing (HPC), computational theoretical physics, large-scale simulation methods. Existing strengths include Applied and Numerical Linear Algebra (ANLA) and Computational high-energy physics (including Lattice QCD).
Teaching & Academic Duties
The role combines research and teaching responsibilities including undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in mathematics and/or theoretical physics, contribution to the MSc in High Performance Computing, development of new HPC-related modules, supervision of students.
Research Expectations
Demonstrate strong research potential, develop an independent research programme, seek external research funding, publish in high-quality venues.
Candidate Requirements
Essential: Strong background in applied mathematics OR theoretical physics OR computational mathematics; experience in high-performance computing applications; evidence of exceptional research promise; ability to teach at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
