Job Description

Duke-NUS Medical School, a US-style graduate-entry medical school in Singapore, is seeking an innovative and skilled Assistant/Associate Professor of Medical Education Research & Evaluation to join the Education Advancement Department. This position plays a central role in advancing the school’s commitment to continuous quality improvement (QI) and to the development of rigorous medical education research that informs educational practice, faculty development, and ultimately patient care.

The successful candidate will lead and contribute to theory-informed, methodologically rigorous medical education research, using quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods, including AI-enabled analytic approaches where appropriate. Responsibilities include developing research questions, study designs, and evaluation frameworks, identifying meaningful performance indicators, and generating evidence to address scholarly questions relevant to medical and health professions education.

The role involves close collaboration with programme leaders, educators, and institutional stakeholders to ensure that research and evaluation activities inform decision-making, support innovation, and contribute to generalizable, outcomes-oriented educational scholarship that bridges education, clinical practice, and health systems improvement.

Job Role

  • Lead the design and oversight of systematic evaluation processes for key educational programmes, including defining key performance indicators, developing evaluation frameworks, and analysing data to support programme refinement.
  • Lead efforts to ensure that programme evaluations are aligned with institutional goals and contribute meaningfully to educational effectiveness.
  • Partner with the QA lead and other stakeholders to translate evaluation findings into actionable recommendations that drive continuous improvement in educational programmes.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance the quality and outcomes of educational offerings based on data-driven insights.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Quality Assurance team and other Departments, ensuring that evaluation and research efforts are strategically aligned with institutional objectives.
  • Facilitate stakeholder consultations and feedback loops to refine and adapt evaluation frameworks, ensuring stakeholder perspectives are incorporated.
  • Collaborate with internal and external research teams on study design, leading or co-leading research projects, research publications, and identifying opportunities for advancing educational research.
  • Support stakeholders in interpreting evaluation findings and developing their own improvement plans based on evidence and logical frameworks, fostering a culture of data-informed decision-making.

Qualifications

  • Advanced Degree (MD/MBBS, Ph.D., Ed.D., or equivalent) in education, programme evaluation, educational research, or a related field.
