Job Description
This is a career-development position designed to develop independence as a researcher and educator. Resources corresponding to at least one doctoral studentship will be linked to the appointment.
Duties include:
- Conduct research in molecular microbiology focusing on prokaryotes
- Establish an independent research line of high international standard, elucidating molecular, cellular, or evolutionary mechanisms using prokaryotic genetic model systems
- Actively seek external funding for research activities
- Collaborate within the department, university, and external organizations
- Teach, examine, and supervise students at undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels (10–30% teaching workload)
- Perform administrative and organizational tasks at departmental/faculty levels as required
Qualification Requirements
- PhD (or equivalent expertise) in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field
- Scientific expertise in molecular microbiology of prokaryotes
- Strong research credentials (high-quality publications)
- Independent research profile with potential to obtain external funding
- Postdoctoral experience outside the awarding university
- Good pedagogical skills and teaching experience
- Excellent English communication skills
