Valley City State University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in Psychology.

The Psychology Program at Valley City State University is seeking candidates for a full-time, tenure track Assistant Professor position in Psychology. Applicants should demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and advising. The successful applicant will teach our Counseling Theories course and provide guidance to undergraduate students who intend to pursue graduate work and careers in counseling, social work, and related areas. This faculty member will teach additional courses that may include, but are not limited to: Disorders and Treatments, Introduction to Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Social Psychology, and courses within the candidate’s area of expertise. Teaching responsibilities will include 12 credits per semester (Fall and Spring) in both face-to-face and online environments. Service to the university and engagement in professional development opportunities are also expected.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MA or MS in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology or related field

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in Counseling, Psychology, or related field
  • Candidate for doctorate in Psychology or related field with ABD status prior to start date
  • Teaching experience in higher education in both face-to-face and online environments
  • Course/curriculum development experience
  • Demonstrated effective use of technology and other innovative teaching methods in the classroom/online learning environment
  • Strong desire to teach, knowledge of teaching methods, and excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work with others in a collegial and collaborative manner

Compensation:The salary for this position is commensurate with qualifications and rank and typically ranges from $47,000 to $52,000 annually for an assistant professor rank.

This position is a 9-month, full-time position. In some cases, summer duties may be arranged through an additional contract.Visa sponsorship for employment is not available for this position.
