Assistant Professor of Special Education (Tenure Track)
Job Summary
The School of Education at Dalton State College seeks applications for 10 month tenure-track Assistant Professor of Special Education position beginning on August 1st, 2026. Candidates must be prepared to teach undergraduate-level courses in special education and ASD. Faculty may also be tasked with teaching general education or freshmen experience courses.
Priority consideration will be afforded to those applicants who submit a completed application by the end of business day May 28th, 2026. The position will remain open until filled.
A complete application must include: Resume, Teaching philosophy, List of three professional references, Transcripts of all college work.
Responsibilities
- The standard teaching load is 12 credits per semester
- Advise students using Banner/DegreeWorks each semester
- Actively participate and serve on committees
- Other such duties as assigned by the Dean of the School of Education
- Faculty may be required to teach day, evening, or online courses/courses outside of SPED discipline
Required Qualifications
- Earned Masters or Specialist in Special Education or related field with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in special education.
- Expertise/experience in one or more areas: (a) knowledge in the field of autism (b) knowledge of general elementary/secondary education
- Three or more years of teaching in a K-12 learning environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Evidence of successful teaching in post-secondary educational settings
- Demonstrated potential of scholarly productivity
- Commitment to collaboration with public schools and colleagues
- Experience working with students similar to the population at DSC
- Earned doctorate
