Assistant Professor (Research Focussed) in Qualitative Research in Health Screening
The purpose of this post is to collect and analyse data for the acceptability workstream for the NIHR funded study, ‘Service Evaluation of Newborn screening for Spinal Muscular Atrophy ‘(SENS). This study is designed to evaluate newborn screening for spinal muscular atrophy using a stepped wedge trial design across seven regions in England.
About You
The successful candidate will be an experienced qualitative researcher with a background in health screening, maternity care, or a related field, ideally with a PhD or equivalent experience. They will have a proven ability to conduct sensitive interviews and focus groups, and to manage and analyse large volumes of qualitative data using tools such as NVivo.
Highly organised and an excellent communicator, the successful candidate will be able to engage effectively with diverse participants and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary research team while managing their own workload. A strong track record of producing high-quality research outputs and communicating findings to a range of audiences is essential.
A proactive and flexible approach, along with a willingness to travel for in-person data collection, is required.
Experience of patient and public involvement, longitudinal or mixed methods research, or knowledge of SMA/newborn screening would be advantageous.
