Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream - Foundations of Psychology

The Department of Psychology in the Faculty of Arts and Science at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time teaching stream position in Foundations of Psychology. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream with an anticipated start date of September 1, 2026.

Applicants must have earned a PhD degree in Psychology or a related area by the time of appointment, or shortly thereafter with a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching. We seek candidates whose teaching interests complement and enhance our existing departmental strengths. Candidates must have teaching experience in a degree-granting program, including lecture preparation and delivery, curriculum development, and development of online material/lectures. Additionally, candidates must possess a demonstrated commitment to excellent pedagogical inquiry and a demonstrated interest in teaching-related scholarly activities.

We seek candidates with expertise in teaching introductory-level psychology, as well as foundational psychology in one or more subdisciplinary areas in our undergraduate curriculum (e.g., Introduction to: Social or Personality Psychology; Behavioural Neuroscience; Perception, Cognition, and Cognitive Neuroscience; Developmental Psychology; Clinical Science). We welcome applications from candidates with undergraduate teaching expertise in the area of methods and/or statistics. Evidence of excellence in teaching and a commitment to excellent pedagogical inquiry, along with the other criteria listed above, can be demonstrated through the applicant’s curriculum vitae and teaching dossier submitted as part of the application (with required materials outlined below), highlighting experience with foundational psychology instruction, as well as teaching accomplishments, awards and accolades, and strong letters of reference.

The salary range is $110,000 – 160,000 CAD per annum, depending on experience. Negotiations beyond this salary range will be considered for exceptionally qualified candidates.
