Tarleton State University, a distinguished Doctoral National Comprehensive University, invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor Tenure-Track of Public Health in the Department of Social Work & Public Health. This is a 9-month tenure-track position located on Tarleton’s main campus in Stephenville, Texas. Summer appointment is dependent upon need and funding availability.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
60% Teaching and Service:
- Utilize instructional technologies, including Canvas Learning Management System (LMS), for course delivery, assessment, and student engagement.
- Deliver instruction in multiple modalities aligned with program structure.
- Supervise capstone projects, internships, research projects, and graduate theses as appropriate.
- Plan, prepare, and deliver lectures and seminars.
- Develop course syllabi, select instructional materials, and design assessments.
- Assess student performance and provide timely feedback.
- Engage students in active learning and provide academic support.
40% Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activity:
- Maintain an active research agenda.
- Make original contributions through scholarly publication, presentation, or exhibition.
- Demonstrate potential for external funding.
Minimum Requirements
Required: Earned doctorate (PhD, DrPH, or related terminal degree) in Public Health or closely related field by time of appointment. Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching Public Health at the undergraduate and/or graduate level in all modalities. Evidence of scholarly productivity or clear potential to establish a sustainable research agenda. Effective written and oral communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Expertise in Health Policy and Management, Biostatistics or Quantitative Methods, Public Health Informatics or Data Analytics, Rural Health Systems, Telehealth and Health Information Technologies, or Comparative Healthcare Systems and Policy Analysis. Experience securing externally funded research. Experience teaching graduate-level courses in fully online formats. CHES/MCHES and/or CPH certification. Experience contributing to CEPH accreditation.
