Assistant Research Scientist Part Time Non-exempt (Cimpian Lab)
Dr. Andrei Cimpian is seeking an Assistant Research Scientist (Part Time Non-exempt). The lab explores a range of questions about children's and adults' thinking: How do they make sense of the world and themselves? What motivates them to pursue certain goals and not others, and to stick with a goal even when they encounter difficulties? How do gender and racial/ethnic stereotypes shape people's self-views, aspirations, and behaviors toward others? We address these and related questions with a wide range of methodologies that include experimental and observational studies, cross-cultural studies, analyses of "big data," natural language processing and text analytics, qualitative content analyses, and systematic reviews and meta-analyses.
Main Duties & Responsibilities (Tasks may vary among the Assistant Research Scientists):
- Conducting studies with children and adults over Zoom and/or offsite (e.g., zoos, parks, and museums in New York City);
- Video coding;
- Content analysis;
- Literature reviews: Extraction of information from the published articles;
- Data management and/or entry;
- Providing general support to researchers in the lab;
- Conduct other research-related tasks as needed.
