Assistant Teaching Professor (MPhil in Foundations of Clinical Psychology)
Applications are invited for this new post be held at the University of Cambridge within the Department of Psychiatry, to take up the appointment on the 1st August 2026. The role would initially be for 1 year with the possibility of extension to 2 years.
This new post will play a key role in the delivery of the academic and research components of the MPhil Foundations of Clinical Psychology and contributing to the wider research profile of the school, as outlined in the main activities below.
The Assistant Teaching Professor will be required to undertake research and teaching duties as assigned by Course Director and Head of Department. The field of research will be determined by the successful applicant in discussion with the Head of Department, Professor Tamsin Ford.
It provides opportunities for post- higher degree research and facilitates applications for further research. The job responsibilities are divided approximately as 40% Teaching/Assessment; 40% Tutorials and Supervision; 10% Research; 5% Management; 5% Admission/Committee.
Applicants should have a PhD in applied or experimental psychology or in an academic specialty related to mental health services such as public health, medical sociology, law or psychiatry; and experience of postdoctoral research in fields related to mental health and clinical / public/international health and health services; a demonstrable record of engagement in research and innovation and/or advanced scholarly activity and knowledge exchange in subject specialism; a high level understanding of research design, statistics, and programming language packages is essential; experience of teaching and academic supervision at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels is desirable.
Clinical qualification and direct clinical experience is not necessary and this post will not attract clinical salary pay scales.
