Description of Job Duties and Responsibilities
Job Description Summary:
The Assistant Vice President for Facilities provides leadership and management oversight for all aspects of facilities, maintenance, grounds, custodial, construction, utilities, labor crews, and infrastructure. This includes the formulation of policy and standards, standards and procedures, safety practices, physical plant assessment, and occupational security standards. The AVP will foster a culture of process improvement and service orientation for the campus; evaluate and prioritize facility initiatives; and collaborate with stakeholders to further institutional strategic and operational goals to ensure the effective, efficient, and secure operation of all facilities. The AVP will be a creative and strategic leader, exhibit outstanding collaboration skills, and be an excellent communicator. The AVP reports to the Vice President of Finance & Administration and Chief Financial Officer.
This position has been designated as essential. This means that when Fairmont State University is faced with an institutional emergency, employees in such positions may be required to remain at their work location or to report to work to protect, recover, and continue operations at Fairmont State University. The AVP has responsibility for all aspects of the institution's physical plant, trades and services, custodial, grounds, occupational safety, construction, and deferred maintenance program as well as all related departmental budgets and staff.
