The Assistant/Associate Clinical Professor (rank determined after a review of applicable prior academic faculty experience) will provide instruction/advising to graduate level nutrition students in both online didactic and laboratory courses. Foci of course content includes clinical nutrition and research content. Courses serve students enrolled in the Graduate Programs in Applied Nutrition, including the Master of Science in Applied Nutrition and the Doctor of Clinical Nutrition program. The typical semester teaching responsibility reflects 2-3 didactic and/or lab courses; and coursework typically unfolds over 8-week consecutive terms. The successful candidate will engage in curriculum development and participate in academic advising, recruiting, course and program assessment, and service to the school, college and university.
Responsibilities
- Assist in and oversee course development and curricular planning, with a focus in new clinical and research courses
- Participate in the planning, sequencing, and coordination of clinical year rotations and appropriate course content
- Assist in recruitment of appropriate internal and external lecturers to deliver clinical year supplemental course material
- Assist in monitoring student performance levels and trends over multi-year timeframes
- Assist with matching students with clinical year rotation and other experiential learning sites
- Participate in the recruitment, development, and maintenance of clinical year rotations and other experiential learning sites
Core faculty responsibilities involve collaboration with the Program Director and other faculty and staff. As a faculty member, and in accordance with ACEND Accreditation Standards, the faculty member has responsibility in areas related to selecting applicants, providing student instruction, assisting in curricular development, evaluating student performance, academic counseling and advising, remedial instruction, curriculum design and evaluation, service on committees, and participation in accreditation activities.
Qualifications
- Preferred, terminal degree in Nutrition or closely related field
- Preferred, but not required: Current RDN Licensure
- Prior higher education and/or clinical coordinator experience
- Demonstrated online teaching and course development experience
- Possess excellent oral, written, and computer skills
- Team oriented, collaborative work ethic
- Demonstrated team-building, organizational, and leadership skills
- A minimum of two years of relevant clinical experience
- Individuals will be expected to use technology and digital media in providing course instruction
