Assistant/Associate Clinical Professor of Nursing Practice
The College of Nursing and Health Science (CONHS) at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi (TAMU-CC) invites applications for a non-tenure track Assistant/Associate Clinical Professor of Nursing Practice to begin as early as Fall 2026. Rank will be determined upon qualifications. This position is a 9-month appointment and will be located at the Corpus Christi campus.
The CONHS non-tenure-track faculty responsibilities include teaching, service and implementation and evaluation of nursing courses and student learning. Faculty are expected to model exemplary professional behavior through work with students, peers, and community colleagues and to provide student support to include mentoring, advising, recruiting, FNP student clinical placement, and DNP student project supervision.
Faculty are also expected to participate in activities that contribute to achieving TAMU-CC and CONHS organizational goals. Teaching responsibilities include working in collaboration with department chair, program director and program faculty to ensure quality program curriculum and instruction in the didactic and clinical phases of the program. Duties include course management, teaching, skills and simulation labs, student advisement, and student formative and summative evaluation. Responsibilities may also include participation in clinical site visits, scholarly project committee work, student remediation, test writing and analysis, program admissions, accreditation processes and program assessment to include serving on in-person faculty meetings and committees essential to the Family Nurse Practitioner and Doctor of Nursing Practice programs, college, and university's functioning.
Required Qualifications:
To be considered for Assistant Clinical Professor rank:
- Master's in Nursing from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of two (2) years of clinical nursing experience.
- Current unencumbered RN License in the State of Texas or eligible for licensure in Texas at time of hire.
- Current board certification as an FNP from AANP or ANCC
To be considered for Associate Clinical Professor rank:
- Earned doctorate in nursing (PhD, DNP) or related field (e.g., EdD). Advanced ABD will be considered; degree must be conferred at the time of appointment.
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience at the clinical assistant professor or comparable rank is required.
- Minimum of two (2) years of clinical nursing experience.
- Current unencumbered RN License in the State of Texas or eligible for licensure in Texas at time of hire.
- Current board certification as an FNP from AANP or ANCC
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1-2 years of academic teaching experience
- Experience with classroom/didactic course teaching.
- Knowledge of curriculum and curriculum development.
- Knowledge of National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties (NONPF) Competencies for nurse practitioners (NPs).
- Experience in program coordination and management, including curriculum refinement and student progress.
- Experience with web-based course delivery, including on-line course development, online teaching, and application of best practices in online education.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across disciplines and with community practice partners.
