The Psychology and Child & Human Development (PCHD) Department is dedicated to developing evidence-based competencies in psychologists, counsellors, educators, and education specialists. Our faculty has expertise spanning educational and school psychology, counselling psychology, teacher education, early childhood education, special and inclusive education, learning sciences, motivation, cognitive science, and mental health.

We invite applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor in Counselling/Counselling Psychology. The successful candidate will contribute to teaching across undergraduate, graduate students and professional education programmes in the areas of counselling and counselling psychology.

Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • A PhD or equivalent qualifications at the time of application in the areas of counselling and counselling psychology.
  • Eligibility for registration or current registration with the Singapore Register of Psychologists and/or Singapore Association for Counselling.
  • At least 4 years of an excellent teaching record, including innovative approaches and use of educational technology.
  • Demonstrated ability and commitment to teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

The following will be advantageous:

  • Experience supervising graduate students (master’s and/or doctoral level).
  • A record of practice-based or applied research with publications in reputable international journals.
  • Success in securing research funding as Principal Investigator.
  • Leadership or administrative experience in academic settings.
  • Familiarity with, or ability to adapt to, diverse education systems and cultural contexts.
  • Willingness to contribute to interdisciplinary teaching and collaboration.
  • In addition, Associate Professors must have a sustained, independent academic reputation, having published in high-impact venues and/or secured major research grants.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Teach and develop courses at undergraduate, graduate, and professional development levels.
  • Conduct research that informs educational practice and policy, particularly in teaching and learning.
  • Build an active research programme and publish in reputable peer-reviewed journals.
  • Establish collaborations with local and international academic and professional communities.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, programme leadership, and institutional initiatives.
  • Undertake administrative responsibilities and service within the department and institution.
  • Share expertise through seminars, workshops, and collaborative platforms.
