Assistant/Associate Professor - Invasive Pediatric Electrophysiologist
The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, in partnership with Alberta Health Services (AHS) invites applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor level invasive pediatric electrophysiologist to join as a full-time tenured track faculty within the Division of Pediatric Cardiology in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Alberta. This position is a part of the Alberta Academic Medicine and Health Services Program (AMHSP) and the Association of the Academic Staff of the University of Alberta (AASUA).
This position is a full time (1.0 FTE) tenure track (contingent) position, 60-65% clinical service and 35-40% academic pursuits including research, teaching, and administrative duties (negotiable).
Responsibilities
- Clinical Excellence: Clinical service would include inpatient and outpatient electrophysiology and general cardiology care, general cardiology and subspecialty (heart rhythm device, electrophysiology and multidisciplinary inherited arrhythmia) outpatient clinics, and invasive electrophysiology procedures on pediatric and adult CHD patients.
- Education & Mentorship: Teaching expectations would include mentoring of cardiology residents and electrophysiology fellows, formative and bedside teaching as well as research supervision.
- Research Contribution: Academic productivity is assessed based on locally initiated clinical research, national and international collaborations, publications in peer-reviewed journals and other related activities.
- Collaboration & Engagement: The faculty would work closely with other programs, interdisciplinary teams, and healthcare professionals to advance Pediatric Cardiology care and the education of Pediatric Cardiology trainees.
Qualifications
Interested applicants must have:
- MD degree (or equivalent)
- Completed subspecialty training in Pediatrics and subspecialty training in Pediatric Cardiology
- Minimum 1 year of dedicated training in advanced Invasive Pediatric Electrophysiology
- Expertise in the management of patients with inherited arrhythmias
- Experience in CIED device implantation
- A track record of publications for mid-career faculty or active involvement in research for junior faculty
