Position Overview
The Department of Medicine, Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto, and the Division of Cardiology at Women’s College Hospital (WCH) are seeking to recruit a Clinician Teacher, Clinician Investigator, or Clinician Quality and Innovation with training in general cardiology, a focus on heart failure, and advanced fellowship training in cardiac echocardiography.
The successful candidate must either already hold or be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor at the University of Toronto. If appointed as a Clinician Investigator, the candidate will also be eligible for an appointment as Investigator Scientist at the Women’s College Research and Innovation Institute at WCH.
Effective start date: July 1, 2026, or a mutually agreeable date.
Qualifications
- MD and FRCPC qualifications (or equivalent specialist designation) with certification in Cardiology.
- Advanced fellowship training in cardiac echocardiography, including ACC/AHA/ASE Level III certification.
- Eligible for licensure in Ontario.
- If Clinician Teacher: completion of MSc in Education, Master Teacher Program, or equivalent.
- If Clinician Investigator or Clinician Quality and Innovation: advanced graduate training (MPH, MSc, PhD, or equivalent).
- Strong academic interest in clinical care, research, and education in cardiology.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across interdisciplinary teams.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Provide outstanding ambulatory and inpatient clinical care for general cardiology patients.
- Attend in the WCH ambulatory general cardiology clinic, heart failure clinic, and echocardiography lab.
- Potentially participate in 4–6 weeks annually on the cardiology inpatient service at a University of Toronto-affiliated hospital.

- Reimagine the Health System with and for patients
Academic Responsibilities
- Conduct research and scholarly activities in alignment with the University of Toronto and WCH missions.
- Depending on the clinical academic track, a designated portion of time will be dedicated to academic work, including teaching, mentoring, and research.
Salary and Contract
- Remuneration is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
- Based on criteria including skills, education, training, and experience.
