"Associate Athletic Director for Sports Performance"

Alabama State University Intercollegiate Athletics invites applications for the position of Associate Athletics Director of Sports Performance. This position is responsible for the leadership, management, and oversight of the department's strength and conditioning program for 19 NCAA Division I (FCS) athletic teams. The Associate AD will design, implement, and supervise comprehensive performance training programs that support student-athlete development, health, and competitive success. This role ensures all performance enhancement activities align with NCAA, SWAC, and University policies while promoting the mission, vision, and values of Alabama State University Athletics.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide strategic leadership and oversight of the Performance Enhancement (Strength & Conditioning) department.
• Design, implement, and supervise strength and conditioning programs for 18 NCAA Division I athletic teams, including in-season, postseason, preseason, and non-traditional segments.
• Demonstrate and instruct proper techniques for strength training exercises, Olympic lifts, speed, agility, flexibility, and conditioning drills.
• Supervise student-athletes during training sessions to ensure safety, effectiveness, and adherence to best practices.
• Coordinate and manage all aspects of strength and conditioning operations for assigned teams.
• Assist with the organization, administration, scheduling, and daily operations of the weight room and performance facilities.
• Maintain and monitor equipment, ensuring proper maintenance, safety standards, and facility upkeep.
• Communicate effectively and collaborate with coaches, athletic trainers, sports medicine staff, nutrition personnel, and athletics administration.
• Promote a culture of performance, accountability, and student-athlete well-being.
• Ensure full compliance with NCAA, SWAC, and University rules, policies, and procedures.
• Support departmental initiatives and assist in advancing the overall mission and strategic priorities of Alabama State University Athletics.
