Associate Director for Career Development
Description of Work:
The Associate Director of Career Development will be responsible for contributing to and executing a vision for career development that meets the unique needs of Arts and Sciences undergraduates. This includes increasing student engagement in career exploration and experiential learning, as well as enhancing after graduation success through 1-1 coaching, career development courses, programming and presentations, and communication. The Associate Director will directly supervise a team of Career Coaches and collaborate with University Career Services and other colleges in this work. In addition, the Associate Director will actively build important relationships with faculty, staff, alumni, employers, and others to generate and promote opportunities for internships, jobs, and graduate/professional school. The Associate Director will regularly review, report, and act on data that highlights student engagement and activity as well as the effectiveness of staff, systems, and programming, including first destination outcomes of recent graduates.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree plus five years of experience in a university or other education setting, including; 1:1 student interactions, within career services or academic advising required; Additional years of completed relevant education may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.
- Must have demonstrated organization, time management, and verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have strong leadership skills and supervisory experience
- Experience with public speaking necessary.
- Experience must demonstrate ability to learn and translate extensive career information, policies and procedures.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software essential.
- Must have the ability to both collaborate and self-manage.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in student affairs, higher education, counseling or related field preferred.
- Undergraduate degree in the liberal arts preferred.
- 7 years of experience in higher education setting desirable.
- Experience building relationships across multiple constituencies and managing projects preferred.
- Background in the liberal arts helpful.
