Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) supports Johns Hopkins' focus on research, teaching and patient care, and its role as a national and global leader in higher education. We create and foster enduring relationships that result in advocacy and philanthropic support for Johns Hopkins University & Medicine.

Johns Hopkins University supports a flexible work model which includes four different work modalities. This role has a remote work arrangement with an onsite presence of 3 days per week.

Founded in 1979, the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth (CTY) is a center for innovation dedicated to advancing the field of gifted education through research on testing, programs, and other supports for advanced learners.

The Associate Director of Constituent Relations is responsible for direct outreach and engagement of alumni, parents, and friends of the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth (CTY). This role will help ensure frequent constituent interactions with the organization to support the growth and future success of CTY.

Key responsibilities:

  • Constituent Relations (80%): Refine and implement CTY's strategies for engaging and building strong and active constituent communities, including social media initiatives, in-person events and activities, and the establishment of volunteer boards and committees. Oversee CTY's efforts to establish online communities and social networks for key external audiences. Develop and maintain alumni program initiatives, and continue to facilitate and manage CTY's annual Distinguished Alumni and Volunteer Awards. Develop annual and multi-year strategic plans for alumni and parent engagement; create appropriate goals and timetables and develop analytics and reporting methods to gauge success. Oversee the implementation of novel approaches to engage CTY young alumni. Create and implement a regional alumni strategy in Maryland, New York, and California. Schedule and arrange summer site visits and/or other engagement opportunities with key constituents. Ensure regular collaboration with the CTY Development team to use constituent relations events as effective major gift prospect engagement opportunities. Create compelling constituent engagement content for CTY's quarterly newsletters and other aspects of alumni and family communications. Collaborate with CTY's Office of Strategic Programming and Partnership to identify opportunities to build deeper connections between alumni and key CTY affinity groups. Work with the Johns Hopkins Offices of Alumni Relations and Volunteer Engagement to develop and execute an Alumni Relations, Parent Engagement and volunteer plan for CTY. Create a systematic approach to tracking constituent data in its various forms by using various database systems and online platforms.
  • Fundraising (20%): Collaborate with CTY's Development team to help grow alumni participation in philanthropic opportunities, for example Pi Day, CTY's annual day of giving. Develop the strategy for and lead at least one young alumni annual giving campaign per year.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Three years related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 years minimum experience in alumni relations and external relations & prior experience working in higher education preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications or Marketing.
  • Community networking experience.
  • Strong organizational and persuasive communicative skills.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Successful execution of projects in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work as a part of an effective team with a results-oriented approach.
  • Functional skills with Windows, Microsoft Office, Alumni Software and Data Management Software.
  • Occasionally requires hours outside of normal working hours and on weekends.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to travel.
  • A high degree of professionalism, discretion, diplomacy and high level of confidentiality.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of colleagues at all levels in the organization.

Classified Title: Alumni Relations Officer. Job Posting Title: Associate Director of Alumni and Constituent Relations, Center for Talented Youth. Role/Level/Range: ATP/04/PD. Starting Salary Range: Minimum: $62,899 - Maximum: $110,100 (targeted salary: $85,000; commensurate with experience). Employee group: Full Time. Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm. Exempt Status: Exempt. Location: Mount Washington Campus. Department name: CTY Development. Personnel area: Academic and Business Centers.
