About This Role
Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Associate Director of Athletics is responsible for assisting with all college athletic programs and activities and day to day operations of the athletics office. Promotes a culture that fosters the priority of academic achievement while protecting the integrity of all College athletic programs and building sustainable tradition of athletics. Participates in regional, state, and national organizations to market the College’s athletic programs, activities, and achievements. Collaborates with College faculty and staff on selected committees concerning athletics and College enrollment. Monitors student-athletes’ academic progress and coordinates academic support programming for all student-athletes.
Summary of Duties
What You’ll Do:
- Promote a culture that fosters the priority of academic achievement while protecting the integrity of all College athletic programs and building sustainable tradition of athletics.
- Promote a student-athlete centered philosophy for the program.
- Monitor academic progress of student-athletes.
- Coordinate academic support programming for all student-athletes.
- Support the Athletic Department Strategic Plan, Institutional Strategic Goals, the Facilities Master Plan and Student Success Action Plan.
- Adhere to all applicable Title IX, Conference, Region 15, NJCAA, Hudson County Community College, local, state and federal laws, statutes, by-laws and regulations.
- Coordinate facility operations including providing for maintenance, scheduling and coordinating the use of the gymnasium and fitness center.
- Manage third party rentals of the gymnasium and fitness center.
- Manage and administer a budget.
- Supervise all fitness center staff.
- Assist with other athletics related operations as needed.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
What You’ll Need:
Education and Experience
- Master’s Degree in sports administration/ psychology, kinesiology, counseling, education or related area.
- Minimum 3 years of professional athletic experience.
- General knowledge of NJCAA, Title IX and compliance rules and regulations.
- Ability to work as part of a cross-functional team in an innovative environment.
- Proficiency in using data analysis tools and software to assess program effectiveness and outcomes.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives and meet deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, planning and leadership skills.
- Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within the student population and staff.
- Valid driver’s license.
- First Aid/ CPR Certification or willingness to attain.
