Associate Director - Rawls College Career Management Center
Position Description
Performs administrative duties in the management and coordination of a large specialized project and program. Under general supervision, performs varied and complex administrative duties requiring independent judgment and the application of established policies and procedures. May provide supervision and direction to clerical, paraprofessional or professional staff members.
About the Department and/or College
The Jerry S. Rawls College of Business Administration is AACSB accredited and houses the Lyons School of Accounting that holds separate AACSB accreditation. The college offers the BBA degree with majors in accounting, energy commerce, finance, information technology, management, marketing, and supply chain management. Several formats of the MBA program are offered in fulltime, weekend, and online modalities in Lubbock, the Dallas/Fort Worth area, Houston, and San Antonio. The College offers MS degrees in accounting, data science, finance, and marketing research and analytics. A Ph.D. in business administration is offered with tracks in accounting, finance, management, management information systems, and marketing. With a faculty of over 140 and a staff that exceeds 80, the college enrolls over 5,000 undergraduate and 800 graduate students.
Major/Essential Functions
- Initiate and develop relationships with employer partners seeking to recruit Rawls students. Advise employers on best practices and improving on-campus recruiting programs.
- Counsel students regarding career path options, job and internship search techniques, and employer networking opportunities.
- Manage the employer-led mock interview process. Recruit employers to participate and market the event to students to ensure schedules are filled.
- Organize and facilitate the on-campus interview process during career fair week.
- Coordinate scheduling and logistics for multiple student industry trips. Collaborate with faculty, student organization leaders, and employers to achieve full schedules.
- Supervise the 10-15 students in the CMC Ambassadors program. Recruit, interview, and select new members each year. Arrange office hours and ensure coverage at relevant CMC events.
- Lead the approval process for new employers and jobs on Handshake. Research all submissions and filter out any irrelevant requests.
- Assist other CMC staff with CMC overview and career readiness presentations as needed.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in the area of specialization or closely related field. Four years of related administrative and technical experience. Additional job related education may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree. Demonstrated ability to succeed in 1:1 personal interactions. Experience networking within a business environment. Preferred experience working with students, career counseling, job placement, human resources or corporate recruitment. Experience networking within a business environment. Ability to travel in non-peak seasons for conferences or training opportunities.
