Job Summary
The Associate Director, Stewardship and Scholar Engagement and Coordinator of the MacDonald Scholars Program supports Indiana University scholarship initiatives by planning, coordinating, and executing high-impact, scholar-focused programming. Provides strategic oversight of stewardship and named award programming, donor and alumni engagement, communications and marketing efforts, and graduate assistant supervision. Manages program logistics, budgets, and data analysis to enhance student success, retention, and longterm IU affinity.
Department Specific Responsibilities
- Develops and implements specialized programming for Hoosier Scholars to provide exceptional student experiences, positively impact retention, and build IU-affinity, hosts events, connects scholars to key campus experiences, collaborates with campus partners, and maintains the programming budget.
- Develops and implements programming and support for Named Award scholarship recipients, host events, provides personalized support, maintains donor relations, connects scholars with donors and alumni, liaises with national foundations, and manages the stewardship budget.
- Serves as the Coordinator of the MacDonald Scholars Program, providing personalized support, designing specialized programming, maintaining relations with the scholarship donor, managing budgets, leading the award selection process, liaising with community partners, monitoring service hours, processing renewals, and providing reports.
- Creates and manages the annual communication plan in partnership with Enrollment Marketing and Communication, writes and edits event invitations, creates event materials, develops promotional items to build affinity, and writes and edits content for the Hoosier Scholar Newsletter.
- Supervises the Sample Graduate Assistant and provides personalized support and guidance to all scholars through individual meetings, email, and phone correspondence on various aspects of their experience, serves as an advisor to multiple student organizations, including the Lilly Scholars Network, and supports student professional development initiatives through programming and individualized attention.
- Maintains relationships with scholarship donors, alumni, community partners, and national foundations in collaboration with the IU Foundation and Office of Enrollment Management development partners.
- Collaborates with OEM's Fiscal Affairs and Enrollment Planning and Research to manage budgets, monitor expenditures, and review and report program data.
General Responsibilities
- Develops and implements programs and initiatives that touch on various/multiple student-related goals, such as enhancing and reinforcing academic engagement and experiential learning; increasing student engagement, wellness, and involvement; fostering learning, inclusion, and development; supporting students in crisis and adversity; and improving the student campus experience.
- Interfaces directly with students by attending student programming events, advising student organization leaders, meeting 1-on-1 to discuss areas of concern on campus, and gathering satisfaction feedback from student participants to implement into future student services initiatives and objectives.
- Collaborates with staff in own department and other departments, as well as academic and campus leaders, on shared student services goals, often coordinating funding to sponsor student programs and initiatives.
- Projects outcomes for services offered at the program, department/division, or campus level. Measures and evaluates effectiveness of student services against projected outcomes; regularly prepares reports on impact to students and budget and presents to stakeholders on effectiveness and to secure funding for initiatives moving forward.
- Serves on committees and performs student services research across the field of higher education and at peer institutions to identify and recommend best practices.
- Plans and coordinates communications for student services initiatives to ensure student participation and engagement.
- May provide guidance to other student services staff; makes process recommendations to manager for improved delivery of service.
- May serve on various campus or cross-functional committees to share student services best practices.
