Associate Director, Undergraduate Career Development
Position Summary
The Center for Career Education (CCE) is an innovative team of career services professionals dedicated to supporting our diverse body of students and alumni in reaching their personal and professional goals. We achieve this by providing access to networking connections, experiential learning opportunities and jobs, comprehensive resources, and customized career counseling to prepare students for an evolving career landscape. CCE serves undergraduate students and alumni in Columbia College, The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science, and the School of General Studies, and collaborates with Career Centers in the other schools at Columbia University and its affiliated institutions.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Senior Associate Dean of Alumni and Undergraduate Career Development and team to identify career education needs within the undergraduate population
- Deliver individual and group career counseling to undergraduate students and recent alumni. Career counseling includes research and administration of career inventories and other self-assessment tools. In conjunction with other team members, track, assess, and report on counseling outcomes
- Research, develop and implement a calendar of career education programming to address student needs. Programming may include, but is not limited to workshops, panels, speakers and presentations. Collaborate with alumni, employers, and other professionals where relevant
- Develop and maintain proactive relationships with key clients including undergraduate students, undergraduate student leaders, administrators, families, and faculty. Serve as CCE?s representative on cross-campus teams serving specific populations of Undergraduates. Provide reports on activities and program outcomes to the Senior Associate Dean Undergraduate Career Development and the Dean of Career Education
- Participate in CCE program planning and assessment of its work
- Lead initiatives and collaborate with other counselors/staff on development and implementation of programming initiatives. Provide reports on activities and program outcomes to CCE staff as well as internal and external partners
- Provide support for training and development of new counselors and participate in on-going professional development programming, which includes hosting in-house training and representing CCE at workshops, employer events, and professional conferences
- Contribute to, develop new, and maintain career resources
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor?s degree and/or its equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years? experience in a related field working with a diverse body of undergraduate level students, or combination of education and experience
- Career education skills required
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment with diverse populations
- Knowledge of Zoom, Google Workspace, CRMs (e.g., Salesforce), recruiting platforms/databases (e.g., Handshake), desktop publishing software, and webpage design
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Availability to work some evenings throughout the year

Preferred Qualifications
- Master?s degree in Counseling, Psychology or related field
- Knowledge of industry recruiting practices, job search processes, and cross campus outreach and collaboration experience
