Associate Lecturer - ECON1595 Business Challenges in the Digital Economy (HE7)
To be successful in the digital economy a firm must find a source of ‘market power’, allowing it to charge prices in excess of its marginal cost. In this course, students will learn to formulate business strategies to overcome the zero marginal-cost problem. Topics to be covered include the economics of social networks,scale economies and learning in AI, creating customer lock-in, reputation as an alternative to regulation, and the composition of digital ecosystems. Students will also learn how to assess the implications of these business strategies for societal well being.
Job Requirements
- Possess a Master’s Degree or professional qualification in the relevant discipline.
- 5 years of relevant work experience will be an added advantage
- At least 2 years of relevant teaching experience at the tertiary level would be a plus.
- Must be available to conduct a weekly 3-hour lecture for a period of 9 weeks.
- Must be available to teach classes during the weekday or Saturday between 8.30AM and 6.30PM and/or weekday evenings from 7pm - 10pm
- Must be able to handle sizeable class, grade assessments and provide constructive feedback to students within a given timeline.

Associates will work closely under the guidance of the course coordinator based in the partner university.
