University of Zagreb Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology announces
THE INVITATION
for employment
- one employee (m/f) for the associate position of assistant, in the scientific area of Biotechnical Sciences, scientific field of Wood Technology, for a fixed period of 6 years, full-time, in the Institute of Furniture and Wood in Construction.
- one employee (m/f) for a temporarily vacant associate position as an assistant on the project Advanced Wood-Based Insulation Panels, for a fixed period until the completion of the project, full-time, at the Institute for Materials Technology.
- one employee (m/f) for the associate position of senior assistant in the scientific area of Biotechnical Sciences and the scientific field of Forestry, to work on the Croatian Science Foundation project "Inclusive Forest Trails: Exploring the Impact of Materials, Topography, and Surface Roughness of Trails on the Independent and Safe Mobility of Wheelchair Users" (IP-2025-02-1748), for a fixed term of 12 months, full-time.
Mandatory requirements:
- The conditions are determined by the provisions of the Law on Higher Education and Scientific Activity (Official Gazette 119/2022) and the Statute of the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology University of Zagreb.
- Completed appropriate undergraduate and graduate university studies in the appropriate scientific area and field
- overall grade point average from previous levels of study (undergraduate and graduate) qualifying for admission to doctoral studies
- academic degree of Doctor of Science in the scientific field of Biotechnical Sciences and the scientific branch of Forestry, for the position referred to in point 3.
Additional requirements:
- communication and presentation skills, independence, organization and conscientiousness, and willingness to cooperate and work in a team
- previous recognitions, awards, etc.
- participation in scientific research work
- published papers or personal presentations at scientific conferences (if any)
- active knowledge of English (speech and writing)
- good computer skills
For position number 3, preference will be given to candidates with knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and spatial analysis
- Laser scanning, LiDAR, photogrammetry, and point cloud processing
- Statistical analysis of spatial, experimental, and survey data
- conducting fieldwork and working on scientific research projects
- preparation of scientific papers and project reports
- willingness for fieldwork and travel for business purposes
- B category driving license is desirable but not required.
Along with the signed application for the invitation, candidates must submit:
- CV with information about education and work experience
- diplomas of completed undergraduate and graduate studies
- candidates who completed their studies outside the Republic of Croatia must submit a decision on professional recognition of their foreign higher education qualification;
- total grade point average at previous levels of study (undergraduate and graduate) (for position number 1);
- proof of knowledge of the English language;
- proof of knowledge of the Croatian language (B2) for foreign citizens according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages;
- certificates of extracurricular, scientific, professional and other activities;
- motivation letter;
- proof of citizenship;
- electronic record of data recorded in the registry of the Croatian Pension Insurance Institute issued during the duration of this competition (e-workbook).
The signed application also includes the applicant's data (name and surname, address of residence, telephone number, e-mail, exclusively for the purposes of the competition procedure). The above evidence must be submitted in the original or a copy that does not need to be certified.
Persons of either gender may apply for this vacancy. Terms used in this vacancy notice that carry gender significance—regardless of whether they are used in the masculine or feminine gender—encompass both the masculine and feminine genders equally.
Candidates who meet all formal requirements may be invited to the selection interview procedure. Candidates will be informed of the time and place of the selection interview procedure by a special invitation via e-mail.
A candidate who does not respond to the selection interview procedure to which he/she was invited according to the special invitation will be considered to have withdrawn from the competition procedure.
Candidates, who, based on special regulations – the Act on Croatian Homeland War Veterans and Members of Their Families (Official Gazette No. 121/17, 98/19, 84/21 and 156/23), Art. 48 of the Act on Civilian Victims of the Homeland War (Official Gazette No. 84/21), Art. 48.f of the Act on the Protection of Military and Civilian War Invalids (Official Gazette No. 33/92, 57/92, 77/92, 27/93, 58/93, 2/94, 76/94, 108/95, 108/96, 82/01, 103/03, 148/13 and 98/19), Art. 9 of the Act on Professional Rehabilitation and Employment of Persons with Disabilities (Official Gazette No. 157/13, 152/14, 39/18 and 32/20), who invoke the right to priority in employment, are obliged to invoke this right in their application for the competition and to attach all evidence required by special regulations for the exercise of this right. The aforementioned candidates shall have priority in employment in relation to other applicants, only under equal conditions.

Candidates who invoke the right to priority in employment pursuant to Article 9 of the Act on Professional Rehabilitation and Employment of Persons with Disabilities (Official Gazette No. 157/13, 152/14, 39/18 and 32/20) are required to invoke this right in their application for the competition and to submit all evidence of meeting the required conditions, as well as proof of disability.
The Faculty reserves the right not to select the applicant and to cancel or suspend the competition without specific explanation.
In accordance with the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation No. 2016/679 and the Act Implementing the General Data Protection Regulation (Official Gazette No. 42/18), all documents submitted for the competition were sent of the candidate's free will, and it is considered that the candidate has given consent to the processing of all data, which will be processed solely for the purpose of conducting the competition procedure.
Late, incomplete and unsigned applications will not be considered.
The deadline for submitting applications for the competition is 30 days from the publication of the competition in the Official Gazette.
