The Department of Neurosurgery at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Associate Professor position in the non-tenure academic clinician track. Expertise is required in the specific area of complex spine surgery with specialization in minimally invasive spine surgery. Candidates for this position must demonstrate professional and clinical focus in minimally invasive spine surgery. Minimally invasive spine surgery includes and is not limited to expertise in endoscopic, robotic, and minimal access approaches. Applicants must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree. Applicants must be ABNS certified or eligible. Training in a post-graduate spine fellowship is also required.
The preferred candidate for this position will also serve as the Director of Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery, in the Department of Neurosurgery. Leadership/administrative responsibilities may include developing an internationally recognized program in minimally invasive spine surgery and optimizing care pathways in the ambulatory setting.
Teaching responsibilities may include the education and training of medical students, residents, and fellows.
Clinical responsibilities may include the practice of complex spine surgery, including open and minimally invasive techniques.
