About the role
Become our Associate Professor/Professor of Nursing and provide leadership, make outstanding and original contributions to research, scholarship and teaching for the enhancement of student learning experience.
This is a joint appointment between Australian Catholic University's Faculty of Health Sciences and St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne, where you will be responsible for:
- The governance and collegial life of the faculty and hospital by building relationships with external organisations and related communities, and enhance hospital clinician research capability;
- The development of contemporary research and scholarship;
- Lead a research program centred on hospital health service priorities, with a key focus on the translation of evidence into clinical practice with the overall goal of improving patient outcomes and health systems.
The Associate Professor/Professor of Nursing will work between two base locations - ACU Melbourne campus and St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne, which are both located in Fitzroy.
About you
ACU and St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne are seeking an Associate Professor/Professor who holds:
- A doctoral qualification in nursing or equivalent.
- A registered nurse with AHPRA.
- Proven expertise in producing high-quality publications and competitive grants, including co-authored publications.
- Demonstrated experience working on research and clinical projects, including the academic supervision of students.
- A significant academic profile and research profile in higher education.
In addition, you will need to demonstrate:
- Capability to think strategically with a high-level communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A commitment to academic and research excellence in the field of nursing.
- Possess strong negotiating, stakeholder management skills and the business acumen to foster and lead innovative improvement ventures.
- Well-developed soft skills to nurture, mentor, coach, lead and foster individuals and teams so they reach their full potential.

- Associate Professor (Level D position): Total remuneration valued to $202,272 - $222,654 total rem (pro rata) pa, including salary component of $171,352 - $188,772 (pro rata) pa, employer contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.
- Professor (Level E position): Total remuneration valued to $260,037 total rem (pro rata) pa, including salary component of $220,723 (pro rata) pa, employer contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.
- 17% employer superannuation contributions to eligible continuing and fixed-term staff.
- Annual leave loading of an equivalent to 17.5% of four weeks' salary pro rata payable, dependent on your commencement date.
