Asst/Assoc Professor, Physical Therapy - Human Performance and Rehab Sciences (Tenure-Track)

Expectations include teaching in the entry-level Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program, scholarship, and service. Collaborate, take initiative, and demonstrate expertise contributing to a team-taught and integrated curriculum. Provide instructional and research support within the Ph.D. in Health Sciences program. Faculty members are expected to maintain a consistent, in-person presence on location throughout the standard workweek.

Plans, organizes, teaches, and provides feedback to promote and direct student success. Responds to students in a timely manner. Communicates with students, departments, and university officials via university provided tools and resources.

Work Schedule: Typically, Monday through Friday, including some evenings, and the possibility of some weekend days.

Primary Location: Youngstown

Required Certifications, Training, and/or Licensures: Eligible for Ohio Physical Therapy Licensure.

Sponsorship and/or Work Authorization Status: This position is not eligible for sponsorship.

Minimum Qualifications: Doctor of Physical Therapy; three years of clinical experience; eligible for Ohio Physical Therapy Licensure.

Preferred Qualifications: Academic doctoral degree (Ph.D, Ed.D, DSc.). American Physical Therapy Association Specialist Certification (ABPTS) approved specialization or other field relevant certifications. Content emphasis on neuroscience and rehabilitation. Experience in research or planned research agenda, scientific writing including publications or grant writing. Experience teaching in a DPT program. Professional membership (American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), specialty sections, other health professional organizations).

Physical Requirements: In accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor physical demands strength ratings, this position will perform light work.

Light: work involves exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects, requiring: (1) walking or standing to a significant degree; (2) sitting most of the time while pushing or pulling arm or leg controls; or (3) working at a production rate pace while constantly pushing or pulling materials even though the weight or the materials is negligible. (The constant stress and strain of maintaining a production rate pace, especially in an industrial setting, can be and is physically demanding of a worker even though the amount of force exerted is negligible.)
